Jack and Jill ~ Our Mini Donkeys ~
Jack and Jill with Chowderhead
Donkeys are new for us! We are loving them.
The donkeys are our guard animals for our sheep.
Jack gets pretty upset whenever anything
comes near our little mini sheep pasture.
Here are a few shots of our Mini Donkeys.
They were wild when we got them
Now we can hardly push them out of our way!

Our New Chickens
We have our Barred Rock Chickens!
We had a contest to name the rooster on Facebook,
and all our Ferguson relatives voted to name him
Rooster Cogburn.
Here he is in all his splendid glory:
We have not got our permanent Coop made yet, so the
chickens are residing in temporary quarters.
Here are a few pictures of Cogburn and the girls.
The pullets are just now starting to lay.
We are now getting 4 eggs a day. We have 10 pullets.
The girls all have 1800s names.
Mable, Hattie Mae, Myrtle, Opal, Ruby, Ethyl,
Harriet,Esther, Ruth, & Margaret.

Back to blogging after a 2 year break....
Been a long time since I have done any blogging on this blog!
So here is a mini update on what has been going on in our lives.
We moved back to our Louisburg Missouri farm in June of 2010.
The people who owned the place in our absence had done some
updating on the house, but it had that generic feel to me,
and my husband and sons helped me to get it back to feeling homey
on the inside, and now the house has my personality once again.
There is still quite a lot of work to do on the inside,
but much more needing done outside!
Terry retired in June of 2011. He of course went right back to
work in a welding shop.
We have some pretty long range plans for our little Hobby Farm,
and have started to see some of our plans fall into place.
Our Little flock of sheep has grown to 8 ewes and 1 ram.
We now have 3 Australian Shepherds on the farm, and
2 Holstein calves and 1 Welsh Mountain Pony.
Last year we had a not so productive garden, we hope to do some
raised bed gardens this year, I want to make myself put more effort
into working the garden this year.
We are getting some lumber this week to build our chicken coop and yard.
We have ordered barred rock hens and some Guinea hens for this spring.
We are thinking about getting a couple peafowl too.
I have been looking into getting another pony that is already broke,
and also thinking about purchasing a couple little mini studs this spring.
Might even get a mini donkey.
Check out some pictures of our farm on our website. For some reason the slide show takes a minute to load.

Dancing With God
Dancing With God
Author Unknown
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing 'dance' at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw 'G': I thought of God, followed by 'u' and 'i'.
'God, 'u' and 'i' dance.'
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.
I Hope You Dance !

The standard for the Olde English "Babydoll" Southdown Sheep

We have ordered our first babydoll Southdown sheep, one ram and two ewe lambs. The ram lamb is Isaac's,(shown in this picture) and the ewes are mine. He will however show all three next year in 4-H. We got our lambs from Kristin Snodgrass, of My Little Sheep, from here in Missouri. It is really hard to determine quality on newborn lambs, and so we are hoping and praying the lambs we chose turn out great. If not, we will just have to breed quality into our flock as time goes by. The standard for the Olde English "Babydoll" Southdown Sheep was taken directly from the Southdown Sheep Society in England. It is the standard for the original sheep changed only to allow for colors. Only white or mouse colored sheep were allowed under the original standard. The breed description is as follows:
Head: Wide and level between the ears with no sign of slug or dark poll in the whites.
Face: Full, not too long from eyes to nose and of one even color. Eyes: Large, bright, and prominent.
Ears: Medium size and covered with short wool.
Neck: Wide at the base and well set to the shoulder.
Carriage: Corky legs, short, straight, set on the outside of the body.
Shoulders: Well set, at top level with the back.
Chest: Wide and deep.
Back: Level, with a wide, flat loin.
Ribs: Well-spring and well-ribbed up. Thick through the heart with fore and hind flanks fully developed.
Rump: Wide and long.
Tail: Large and set almost level with chin.
Legs: Full, well let down, with a deep wide twist (including thighs).
Wool: Of fine texture, great density, and of sufficient length of staple covering the whole of the body down to the hocks and knees and right up to the cheeks, with a foretop, but not around the eyes or across the bridge of the nose.
Size: Must be 24" or under shorn, measured straight up the front leg to the top of the shoulder.
Lambing without difficulty is one of the qualities of the "Babydolls;" therefore, ewes under 18" are discouraged.
Colors: All colors acceptable, black, dilutes, and spotted. Below are the pictures we got of the lambs:

Table Decorations
Mom noticed in the bulletin last Sunday that we were to make the decorations for our table at the Mother/ Daughter function. It has a Fiesta theme. Since I have so much fun doing crafty things I decided Mom and I would make our decorations. We made Tissue paper flowers and some Dancing lady name placards.
Here are the pictures of our creations I will take pictures at the function Saturday and show how it all looked on the table.

I Am a 'Kept' Woman
My Aunt Polly sent the following in an email I thought it worth printing on my blog.
I Am a 'Kept' Woman
You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind,
But GOD kept me sane.
(Isa. 26:3)
There were times when I thought I could go no longer,
But the LORD kept me moving.
(Gen 28:15)
At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,
But the LORD kept my mouth shut.
(Psa. 13)
Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,
But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc..,
(Matt. 6:25-34)
When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong!
(I Pet. 5:7),
(Matt.11:28-30)
I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be 'kept.'
Do you know a 'kept' woman?
If so pass it on to her to let her know she is 'Kept'
I'm 'Kept' by the Love and Grace of God the Father and through His Son Jesus the Christ!
God is AWESOME, share Him with someone you love !!!
I Am a 'Kept' Woman
You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind,
But GOD kept me sane.
(Isa. 26:3)
You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you.
There were times when I thought I could go no longer,
But the LORD kept me moving.
(Gen 28:15)
I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you."
At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong,
But the LORD kept my mouth shut.
(Psa. 13)
1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;
4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
Sometimes, I think the money just isn't enough,
But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc..,
(Matt. 6:25-34)
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me strong!
(I Pet. 5:7),
7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
(Matt.11:28-30)
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me!
I'm blessed to be 'kept.'

I love planning things. I have had a fun week planning stuff for Terry's birthday. It is all ready now to just do the party, and I hope he will be blessed tomorrow and his friends and children honor him and show him how much they appreciate all he has done for them and all he means to them. Praying for tomorrow to be a blessing to my wonderful husband.

Rainy Night in Missouri!

I think it has been raining for ever here! I am cold and stiff and pretty much in arthritis pain all over my body. I should not be cold, the temp outside is 54, so it is not cold. But I am. I am in the process of making a gazillion kilts tonight and tomorrow. I have to quit now and go to bed and cover up and get warm. Jude, Nehemiah and Nicolae's are all finished. Caedmon's was re sized at Christmas, I will finish all of them tomorrow. I had earlier planned to finish them all and then go to bed, but alas, I shall do them tomorrow instead. I still have pressing on Isaac's, on Noah's and Isaiah's the waists, all of Asher and Levi's, and all of Micaiah's. I also need to see about Addie's (it should be good to go. And then of course there is our new little Caithness! Hers will be a snap!

TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
TODAY'S VERSE from HEARTLIGHT -- http://www.heartlight.org/
--\/------------------------------------------------------------------
April 18, 2009
VERSE:
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will
all be changed-- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the
last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must
clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with
immortality.
-- 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=1+Corinthians+15:51-53
THOUGHT:
I'm going to be changed! You're going to be changed! We're not
talking about a new wardrobe or haircut. We're not talking about a
new car or a new place to live. We are talking major, heavy-duty
overhaul! We're going to be made immortal. We're going to become
indestructible. We will no longer be perishable goods! We're bound
for glory.
PRAYER:
Inspire my faith, dear Lord, to trust your timing and to lean
upon your grace. I believe that you not only know all the
mysteries, but that you hold all triumphs in your hand. Please make
me victorious, O LORD Almighty, through the mighty work of your
Son. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
